Stubborn Kid

I knew I was a stubborn kid

I knew I didn’t like rules or being told what to be

I got in trouble for doing things my own way

I felt bad for being a little different

Disrupting class to help a friend

Or solve a problem on my own terms

They thought I didn’t listen

I disappointed teachers

For breaking rules, breaking the mold

I was an outcast, did not fit in

But I took that and helped it fuel me

To do the things they said I couldn’t

To turn stubborn into a will

It was no longer a disadvantage

Perseverance to know I couldn’t fail

Confidence and courage to do my best

I did things my way, did not look back

And I’ve never been more successful

Not doing things they way they always were

A different way, in my own terms

I broke the mold and what they thought I could do

Started my own company right after school

And that stubborn kid

Is now a speaker at his alma matter

To influence future stubborn kids

To believe in themselves and

Never give up on their dreams
